Art is important to me because it has always been a way for me to unwind and relax. Since I was a little kid I have always been drawn to art, whether it be with clay, wood or paper and ink. I would smush clay with my chubby fingers into some sort of lamp at ceramics classes and scribble on a wall with a Crayola at home. My parents always encouraged my appreciation for art by signing me up for classes and sitting with me at home while I scribbled on paper.

Once I entered school my love for art only grew. Every year I have taken an art class and expanded my skills. During a busy school day, these classes have been away for me to relax during school. When I moved in sophomore year, my first friendships came from my art class that year. In the summer of Junior year and the beginning of Senior year, I took art classes at Temple. Those classes widened my perspective of art as I was given chances to create with mediums I had never experienced before such as glass.

Throughout these twelve years, I have taken at least an art class every year, the culmination of this being AP art. In my last year of high school, this class has allowed me to meet new people and form new friendships. AP art has been a learning experience, throughout this year discovered I where art would fit into my life. Art will always be a love of mine but it will stay, as it always has been, as a hobby.

In the future, I hope to use the skills I have learned in my future professions and take a few classes in college. However, I will not pursue art as a career. I have learned the way I enjoy creating art most, is with a relaxed place and for no one myself.
